The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an official probe into a viral video allegedly showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, smoking, drinking, and dancing inside what appears to be a school hostel.
The unsettling clip, which circulated on social media earlier this week, has triggered widespread concern over youth conduct, school discipline, and student welfare. In response, the police confirmed that a full investigation is underway to verify the authenticity of the footage and identify those involved.
According to police spokespersons, the inquiry will be carried out in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and other relevant bodies to ensure a thorough review of the incident.
“This matter is being treated with utmost seriousness. We remain committed to safeguarding the safety and moral standards of students across Lagos,” the Command stated.
Meanwhile, the management of Excel College, Ejigbo, is expected to release an official statement as the video continues to draw outrage from parents, educators, and community leaders.
Education stakeholders have called for tighter supervision in both public and private schools, alongside renewed emphasis on student counseling, mentorship, and moral guidance.
The incident underscores the pressing need for collective action between schools, parents, and government agencies to protect the well-being and future of Nigerian students.
